Working on projects in both the Northwest and London, this small practice concentrates on high-end residential projects, along with schemes within the hospitality industry.
With a focus on good design, Group D Architects aims to create life-enhancing spaces for those who live in them, working closely with clients to fully achieve their aims.
Fulfilling the client’s brief
Having a contemporary vernacular style, the architects design buildings that are in keeping with their locality and are well thought out in terms of client aspirations, budget, and buildability: creating simple architecture with minimalist details and using beautiful materials is important to them.
And to make sure that clients can fully visualise their projects and be confident about the decisions they make, the firm offers 3D visual walkthroughs of individual schemes.
The Liverpool-based practice is made up of three founders who met at university. It’s now expanded to also become a development company – Group D Architects / Group D Developments – having been joined by a fourth partner, a funder who provides capital to help the practice acquire its own sites to design developments for.

Director James Tartt explained the company’s outlook:
As we are a small team, we are able to provide our clients with a very focused service. Our clients are afforded a very close relationship with one of the three architectural directors, so you get a much more personalised service that you perhaps don’t get from a larger, more commercial practice.
We understand that every project should have a uniquely tailored design response that integrates our client’s intentions and values with the influences of the surrounding context. We aim to create and champion inspiring contemporary design and we believe in doing things well. No shortcuts, novelty solutions, or rushed decisions.
We also know that things don’t always go as planned. That’s why we frequently go on-site to resolve any issues with contractors and to ensure the building process goes smoothly.
